As a large, well-resourced church, our outreach efforts must begin with humility and deep listening. We seek to support and learn from community partners on the front lines. We believe that all good and just outreach comes from our relationships with those who are doing God’s work each day to improve the lives of people experiencing the interconnected challenges of poverty.

At Saint Luke’s, we are particularly passionate about addressing food insecurity, especially for children in Birmingham. We are grateful for our partnership with i3 Academy, a free public charter school with campuses in the neighborhoods of Woodlawn, East Lake, and Center Point. Working with school leaders, we support the i3 Food Pantry through food collection and volunteers, as well as providing fresh produce, eggs, and protein.

As a church family, we volunteer together with other community partners serving those experiencing food insecurity: Grace Episcopal Church Woodlawn, the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama, Church of the Reconciler, and others.

Proceeds from the Saint Luke’s Kitchen, which serves breakfast on Sunday mornings and supper on Wednesday evenings, support our outreach efforts.
