Job Description
Mission: To serve the Saint Luke’s congregation by providing high quality Christian ministry programs and special events for our children which result in individual spiritual development and an increased sense of belonging to the greater Saint Luke’s family, to encourage and equip parents to develop a biblical worldview in their children and provide direction and leadership to staff and volunteers serving children’s ministry.
Areas of Responsibility
Sunday Mornings:
Provide teaching support, coordination and implementation of the chosen Sunday school curriculum and New Creation (our children’s Sunday education opportunity between worship services).
Wednesday Afternoon:
Mid-week Bible Club- planning curriculum, leading instruction, and coordinating volunteers for 3 – 6 grade Bible Clubs.
Create and implement revised programming to maintain and grow attendance.
Special Events:
Prepare and lead annual calendar of all Children’s ministry special events (i.e. back to school blessing, Sunday school orientation/kick off, Father/Daughter Dance, Christmas pageant, Pops & Play, specific grade level events, VBS, etc).
Lead Vacation Bible School with the aid of the leadership team, and help manage recruitment efforts and coordinate planning.
Nursery:
Manage the Nursery Director and coordinate the nursery workers.
Administration:
Responsible for check-in procedures and tracking weekly attendance through ShelbyNext.
The Family and Children’s Minister will have the minimum weekly time commitments:
Sunday mornings: 7:30-12:30 (5 hours)
Tuesday Staff Meetings: 9:30-3:00 (5.5 hours)
Wednesday Bible Clubs: 3:00-4:30pm (1.5 hour)
Prep time, Relationship Building, and Communication: (8 hours)
